Pros
One reviewer with swing speeds from 90 to 100 said that in his search for a ball with good spin, soft feel and great distance; the Nike One Vapor has fitted the bill. He also appreciates the price. In the looks department, there was no distracting writing or graphics.
As far as distance was concerned, even in wet conditions, he got a good 10 yards more than with other golf balls that he has tried. In terms of durability, one of the balls had only a minor scuff after contact with a tree and approximately five holes of play. He was further pleased by the fact that this was the first ball that was apparently able to withstand his lob wedge’s MD grooves.
After one pitch and two full shots, not a single mark appeared on the Nike One Vapor Speed. And the spin! This 11 handicapper bagged three birds with the aid of the roll upon landing. Though it is considered soft, this urethane ball feels harder than any other he has found.
The feel is firm but not in the least bit awful. If you favor NXT’s, he says, you’ll probably love this ball. A gift from his wife, two dozen TP Burners, may be on that back shelf for some time to come. Many reviewers agree that this ball is a great value for money.
Cons
Another reviewer, though impressed with the Nike One Vapor ball’s durability and distance, still felt that his Srixon Trispeed, when it comes to feel during putting and spin, still has the edge (albeit slim). This is not enough to really be looked seriously as a con because it sounds more like a personal preference to me.
In conclusion
Players with slower swings that have been spending a lot of money on top of the line balls, have found that they are much happier with the relatively reasonably priced ($25 per dozen) Nike One Vapor Speed balls; not only for the price, but for the performance, durability and speed they get out of each ball.
A number of reviewers kept comparing this ball to the NXT, saying that both have good spin, drive decently and are dead center between tour balls and two piece balls. Of the two however, Nike One Vapor received more votes. One reviewer in particular, who said he is not afraid to try new balls, preferred the Vapor because it is lighter, softer, holds the green and flies straighter than the NXT. He suggests buying two boxes at a time to reduce costs – well, I would certainly agree with that!
